Sketch of the day
My New Year’s Resolution is to get back to the habit of drawing something everyday. Today, I just felt like drawing asparagus. I do not know why. I don’t like to eat it.

Sitting in a meeting. Clean pad of paper. Fresh pen. My mind is listening but my hand cannot keep still.
Over the past year I have worked on creating a drawing a day. I do not always do it but sometimes things catch my eye and make me stop and put it on paper. The practice of drawing something (almost) every day has made my style looser and more confident. I really like the flowing line that an ordinary black Flair pen gives me. Sometimes the hardest part of the drawing is looking for the pen. I have bought several dozen black Flair pens but they seem to travel more than I do.
Autumn Sketches 1
As the seasons change, so my subject matter changes.
Summer Sketches 2
All summer I have travelled around with my sketchbook and trusty flair pen. It has been an illustrator’s working vacation of sorts. I am really enjoying the new look that is emerging from this sabbatical.
For anyone who is feeling stale and wants a challenge…take a sketchbook with you wherever you go and sketch something every hour. You will be surprised with what you come up with.
A Summer of Sketches
In my continued quest to draw every day I have adopted the art of the blind contour drawing. I think my drawings are actually “visually impaired” contour drawings. I do look at my paper from time to time - if only to keep from drawing on my pants.
